Nutanix Frame as a game changer
Likeliness to Recommend
What differentiates Nutanix Frame from other similar products?
Nutanix Frame stands out for its true hybrid DaaS - I deployed identical cloud desktops across AWS, Azure, and on-prem Nutanix clusters during testing. The GPU handling is unmatched (1-click NVIDIA vGPU access) versus complex setups in Citrix/VMware. Browser-based access just works, even with USB peripherals like drawing tablets that break other solutions. Session persistence saved hours of work when connections dropped mid-task. Downsides: admin UI needs polish, and multi-monitor support lags behind competitors. Ideal for graphics workloads needing cloud flexibility.
What is your favorite aspect of this product?
My favorite aspect is one-click GPU acceleration 鈥 no other DaaS solution makes it this easy to spin up high-performance cloud workstations. During testing, I deployed NVIDIA vGPU instances in under 60 seconds for CAD workloads that normally require complex setups in Citrix or VMware. The browser-based access surprised me 鈥 it handled professional USB devices (Wacom tablets, 3D mice) without drivers, something even local workstations struggle with. Session persistence was a lifesaver when my connection dropped during renders 鈥 no lost progress. For hybrid cloud flexibility, nothing beats Frame鈥檚 "deploy anywhere" approach.
What do you dislike most about this product?
The admin console feels outdated 鈥 managing large deployments is clunky compared to modern UIs like AWS WorkSpaces. Multi-monitor support is inconsistent (especially for 4K setups), and peripheral passthrough occasionally fails with niche devices. The lack of detailed performance metrics makes troubleshooting GPU bottlenecks harder than it should be. While hybrid-cloud is a strength, on-prem latency spikes occurred during cross-cloud migrations. For the price, I expected better monitoring and endpoint polish.
What recommendations would you give to someone considering this product?
If you're considering Nutanix Frame, first test it with your specific applications and hardware. It works best for teams needing high-performance GPU workstations in the cloud. Make sure to check compatibility with your peripherals like drawing tablets. Start with a small deployment before scaling up, as large setups require careful planning. Be aware that mixing on-prem and cloud resources may cause latency issues. The interface can be clunky for big deployments, so consider using automation tools. This product is overkill if you just need simple virtual desktops for basic office work.
