Cornerstone’s Spark 2025 – From Learning Platform to Strategic Workforce Planning Enhanced by AI
In May 2025, Cornerstone’s Analyst Day and Spark 2025 conference marked the next step in its evolution from a learning technology application suite into an HR technology platform with Cornerstone Galaxy. Attended by many global analysts, the event highlighted Cornerstone’s commitment to innovation, affordability, and customer-centric solutions through a series of impactful announcements.
Early on in the Analyst Day event, Cornerstone’s leadership team acknowledged its traditional products’ strength in the learning management space, in particular addressing the needs from a compliance management standpoint. The leadership team also acknowledged that what it had was products and suites of products, lacking a coherent and progressive platform that helps address and solve one of HR’s biggest challenges: strategic workforce planning.
Cornerstone is thus positioning its Cornerstone Galaxy platform as the solution, rolling it out in three incremental bundles: Learn, Elevate, and Transform. Each of these incremental bundles addresses increasing capabilities:
- Developing your employees through learning management and learning experience.
- Accelerating performance and career mobility through capabilities such as a talent marketplace, performance management, and succession planning.
- Seeing the current organizations’ skills and capabilities to plan for the future through further intelligence and workforce planning capabilities.
All bundles of the platform are supported by Cornerstone's Galaxy AI, with more agentic AI capabilities to be deployed.
The underlying challenge for any organization, in Cornerstone’s view, is in the problem of skills gaps: the difficulty of inventorying and mapping employees’ current existing skills, knowing what the missing skills are, addressing these through upskilling, and seeing the trending skills that will be needed for the future. Underlying Cornerstone’s strategy to address the skills gap problem is the recent acquisition and integration of SkyHive AI into Cornerstone Galaxy. SkyHive AI has gathered and analyzed over 3.8TB of global labor market data to map out current and trending skills from a regional, local, and supply and demand perspective. Skills then can be more easily inventoried (even with suggestions provided), missing skills identified, and upskilling opportunities surfaced. Leaders would have better visibility and gain insights from trending skills, with additional insight and tools to better plan for the future. SkyHive and its intelligence are built into all of Cornerstone Galaxy’s bundles.
In addition to the above, Cornerstone assures that existing customers (on SumTotal, Saba, etc.) can easily upgrade in an affordable manner to their Cornerstone Galaxy platform, quickly enabling the bundled additional capabilities. Other announcements include newer features to roll out, a simplified user interface to enhance the user experience, and further investments in areas such as integration.
Conclusion
Cornerstone has taken the intelligence and technology behind its SkyHive AI acquisition and integrated it well into its Cornerstone Galaxy platform. The Cornerstone Galaxy platform is being rolled out in bundles. Organizations looking to strengthen their HR capabilities, in particular to those looking to grow and to address their skills gap problem, may find Cornerstone Galaxy an interesting platform to help.
