What differentiates Cato Edge SD-WAN from other similar products?
While there is still a requirement for an onsite device it is easily interchangeable. Being able to configure policies in a single web interface and NOT being charged for this as an additional feature was one of several reasons for our original migration. I can be on the phone and make a policy change and have it take effect almost immediately (everywhere included in the rule) simply by saving the change. Many other products I have looked at to provide similar functionality are per user or don't include VPN which we've obviously used extensively this past year.
What is your favorite aspect of this product?
One of the key features needed was the ability for remote sites to be able to manage their device without the person there have any technical expertise. Over the multiple years of using the product we have had Cato sockets sent to offices and got them up and running without having to call in a Geek Squad type person.
What do you dislike most about this product?
Still requires onsite hardware which adds more devices subject to failure + changes in bandwidth needs will result in price changes or restricted bandwidth.
What recommendations would you give to someone considering this product?
When doing a cost calculation consider not just your current bandwidth but possible future changes. We've had two sites migrate from DSL to Fiber which resulted in increased pricing (but still cheaper than several alternate solutions but large margins).
