Reliable and practical for file transfers and EDI

What differentiates CData Arc from other similar products?
Well, so CData Arc... it鈥檚 kinda like one of those all-in-one tools that tries to make B2B data integration and file transfer less painful. Like, it supports a bunch of protocols鈥擜S2, SFTP, FTP, etc.鈥攔ight out of the box, which is cool because some other tools make you jump through hoops just to get basic transfers working. Also, its biggest thing is maybe how it handles EDI (Electronic Data Interchange) and MFT (Managed File Transfer) in the same platform. So, like, if your company needs to send purchase orders or invoices via EDI and also just securely transfer files, it鈥檚 got both covered.
What is your favorite aspect of this product?
If I had to pick a favorite aspect of CData Arc鈥攕peaking like a human here鈥攊t鈥檇 probably be the way it combines EDI and MFT in one place without making it feel like you're juggling two different systems. That鈥檚 huge for teams that are tired of stitching tools together with duct tape just to send a file or map a document. It鈥檚 kind of like getting a Swiss Army knife that doesn鈥檛 try to be a spaceship鈥攊t just works, and it鈥檚 tidy. Especially that drag-and-drop flow designer鈥 feels good when you can visualize the process instead of digging through a maze of config files.
What do you dislike most about this product?
Honestly, if I had to nitpick like a regular user, the thing I鈥檇 dislike most about CData Arc is probably the limited prebuilt integrations with popular apps and services. Like, sure, it nails the core protocols and EDI stuff, but if you鈥檙e trying to hook it up to, say, Salesforce, Shopify, or some random ERP system, you might end up doing a bit more manual work or scripting than you鈥檇 want. Also, the documentation is decent, but sometimes it assumes you already know a fair bit about EDI standards or how specific connectors work, which can be frustrating if you鈥檙e new to it.
What recommendations would you give to someone considering this product?
If you're considering CData Arc, I'd recommend starting with a clear understanding of your use case. This platform shines when it comes to EDI transactions and secure file transfers, so if that鈥檚 what your business needs, you鈥檙e on the right track. However, if you're expecting tons of built-in integrations with cloud apps like Salesforce or NetSuite, just be aware that you might need to put in extra work or use connectors creatively. Definitely take advantage of the free trial鈥攚hile the interface is fairly user-friendly, there鈥檚 a learning curve, especially if you鈥檙e not super familiar with EDI workflows or integration concepts.
