What differentiates AWS Systems Manager from other similar products?

AWS SSM we have been using on daily basis , it is just fantastic for taking ssh to the ec2 machines incase if you dont have the public key for the ec2 server. We have been doing most of the patching activity using aws ssm on all our ec2s.

What is your favorite aspect of this product?

One of the best like about this feature is we can easily run automation scripts all over our ec2 in single clicks like deploying nginx over all our machines.

What do you dislike most about this product?

It only works if we have aws ssm agent installed on the ec2 , i feel this dependency should be removed. It should come as inbuilt aws amis.

What recommendations would you give to someone considering this product?

I would strongly recommend aws ssm for automations , patching activity & many more.

What differentiates AWS Systems Manager from other similar products?

AWS SSM is a AWS proprietary product and it has lot if services integrated with AWS which won't be there with Ansible, Chef and Puppet and if you are hosting on AWS it makes more sense to use the native products and I will highly recommend the product for ease of use and great features

What is your favorite aspect of this product?

So, if you have an application where you are using EC2 machines then patching is one of a big issue , while if you have some thing like AWS SSM it becomes way too easy and that is a great reason to use AWS SSM

What do you dislike most about this product?

i can't think of any problem with the product it has great features

What recommendations would you give to someone considering this product?

It is a good replacement for product like Chef, Puppet and Ansible if your application is developed on AWS then AWS SSM is the correct tool to go for and it will definitely serve the purpose of mass deployment.
