Enterprise Mobility Drives Innovation in the Wireless LAN Market, Forcing Wired LANs to Take a Backseat

91ÖÆƬ³§ ranks Aruba, Cisco and HP as market Champions in a Wireless LAN Vendor Landscape report. With the demand for mobile in the enterprise growing rapidly, WLAN vendors have made significant innovations and 91ÖÆƬ³§ believes the need for wired LANs will significantly reduce by 2015.

London, ON (December 19, 2011)– A recent WLAN Vendor Landscape published by 91ÖÆƬ³§ identified Cisco Systems, HP Networking and Aruba Networks as market Champions. Mobile devices are invading the enterprise creating new demands for WLAN vendors and pushing innovation in the space.  WLAN solutions are evolving rapidly and are significantly faster, more reliable, and secure than they were a few short years ago.  91ÖÆƬ³§ believes the demand for mobile devices will continue to explode, significantly reducing the need for wired LANs by 2015.

“Info-Tech believes that we are rapidly moving to an all-wireless access network. As a result, integrated wired and wireless network administration and management will become increasingly important. Vendors with a “single pane of glass” management view for wired and wireless networks provide a compelling option,” says Mark Tauschek, Lead 91ÖÆƬ³§ Analyst at 91ÖÆƬ³§. “I think it’s safe to say that starting in 2013 you won’t see a lot of new wired access networks deployed in the enterprise – the future is almost here, and it’s all wireless.”

Cisco Systems holds the market share lead in the WLAN space and is positioned as a Champion in the report.  Cisco remains a leading network equipment maker, and as such enterprises with large and complex network hardware infrastructure may prefer to procure end-to-end hardware and support from this industry giant.

Also a Champion, Aruba Networks has a robust, well-rounded and innovative wireless solution.  Noted as having some of the best security features in the market, the product is also suitable for a variety of indoor, outdoor, and industrial deployments.  Aruba continues to show outstanding growth as the largest pure-play vendor in the enterprise WLAN market and has the ability to manage wired, wireless and legacy networks from multiple vendors via a single dashboard.

Rounding out the Champion list, HP Networking also received the “Value Award”. According to the report, HP’s sophisticated array of WLAN solutions is a good choice for large institutions and enterprises looking to deploy an integrated wired and wireless networking within a low budget. The report states that a key differentiator is HP’s full integration of wired and wireless networks with single-pane-of-glass management.
